It’s time for a Picky summer adventure – the 2014 Picky Tour. Enter Madeline and Sasha, two adventure-loving Oregon natives who are taking on the West in true Picky style. Bonding over their love of running track and unicorns, Madeline and Sasha have been partners in adventure since high school. Their plan is to drive through Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, and Idaho whilst reflecting on their recent college graduations. Although they’ve officially received diplomas that will hypothetically get them wonderful jobs, they aren’t quite ready to give up their freedom just yet. The duo will drive all around the West in 3 short weeks, hiking, climbing, meeting new friends, and consuming more Picky Bars previously thought possible.
Sasha began her Picky adventure a few years back by creating Picky Bars in the kitchen of Lauren and Jesse’s home. Since that fateful winter break, she has consumed approximately 547.5* Picky Bars and is known for her squirrely habit of stashing of Smooth Caffs throughout all of her possessions. A lover of all things that allow her to prance around the outdoors or around a track, Sasha has loved climbing since her father dubbed her “Monkey Girl” at the ripe age of three when her doctor attempted to craft rules that would prevent her from falling out of trees. Recently graduating from Brown with a degree in environmental studies, Sasha is psyched to kick off this road trip and meet other adventurers who believe in the spirit of the #pickylife.
The second half of the adventuring duo is Madeline Pickering. She just graduated with a degree in entrepreneurship and is ready to take on the world, one wild opportunity at a time. She loves to run (slowly) and hike without proper gear. She’ll be running her first marathon this summer with a goal of not tripping for the entire 26.2 miles. She’s hiked and camped since she was born, but she found her new passion, rock climbing, only in the past couple years. She has fallen in love with the climbing community and is pumped to meet more people on the road that share her passion for rock and aren’t grossed out by her callused hands. Her favorite bar is All-in Almond because it keeps her energized during long days at the crag!
The adventure starts in less than a week and the duo still doesn’t have a road trip playlist for the long hours between stops.
